Porthtowans beach is just a short walk from your lodge. A brisk walk takes about five minutes. If you are loaded up with beach equipment and children then a leisurely walk takes about fifteen minutes. In 2005 after rigorous checking by the Marine Conservation Society, Porthtowan’s beach was awarded the Blue Flag. This is a European Standard given for exceptional water and beach quality. The beach is primarily sandy and has a few rockpools for children to explore. It is also a great surfing beach and each year is host to the Cornish and Open surfing championship. The beach is patrolled by RNLI Lifegaurds.
