Spring 2009
After a very rude lead up to spring with severe winter frosts and biting winds, action has at last begun in the gardens around Rosehill. The ever reliable snowdrops followed by daffodils, hellebores and primroses show the resilience of nature here. Some of our tender plants like the black aeoniums couldn't cope with the winter conditions and will need to be replaced. New plantings and the moving and splitting of existing plants is going on as the season progresses. The turf roofs will get some care and attention too. How do they cut the grass up there??!!
All the birds are busy nesting and laying eggs. Nest boxes put up last year are being occupied like Blue tits in Wheal Sparrows box. Keep an eye on our bird cam. Our resident pheasant(called Phillip, Graham or Elvis...so far) is happily making his mating calls and flapping away.
Our latest visitors in the lodges have been making the most of the hot tubs and log burners during the transition to warmer days and lighter evenings.
Days out: Why not try the Titanic exhibition in Falmouth or the only Wildebeest in the UK at Newquay Zoo?
