The stunning ‘Coast to Coast’ bicycle path starts just down the road from Rosehill, near Elm Farm’s Bike Barn and takes you from Portreath all the way to Devoran on the East coast of Cornwall through some truly stunning countryside. If you’re not averse to driving further afield, the Camel Trail is about 40 minutes drive away and offers some exceptional scenery on route. There are a couple of useful and very helpful bike shops in the area, where bike hire is possible. The Bike Barn – at Elm Farm in Nancekuke is ideally located if you are staying in Porthtowan and offers excellent, informative and friendly service. There is also a Bike Chain Ricci shop in Redruth for bike hire and bike gear.

For cyclists looking for somewhere to practice the more extreme side of cycling there are some excellent off-road tracks that offer great jumps and drops. The Track offers bike hire, BMX race track, dirt jumps, instruction and much more and is just down the road from Rosehill.

Cornwall BMX is the only BMX Racing facility in Cornwall. The club is a non-profit making club that meets regularly throughout the whole year to train, race, practice and generally have fun. They aim to cater for all ages and abilities and welcome families and individuals to ride. Riders range between the ages of 3+ to 50+ and the whole family is encouraged to get involved.

If you would like to go along and have a go, you must ensure you are wearing the following clothing: Long sleeved top, Long trousers (no shorts/skirts allowed), Closed in footwear, Full-fingered gloves and a full-faced helmet are also required but these items may be borrowed on the day from the club free of charge to get you started. Of course, a bike is also necessary but can be hired from the club at very reasonable rates upon your arrival. They have various different sizes to suit most ages but these are hired out on a first-come first-served basis.
