Wheal Towan

2 Bedrooms | Sleeps 4

With Eco-elegance Wheal Towan is a delightful grass roofed timber lodge built with love and care by a superbly skilled bunch of cabinet makers here in our local village of Porthtowan. Built with timber sourced from sustainable woodland here in Cornwall, Towan is a 5 star luxury lodge and has also achieved the Gold Award under VisitEngland’s assessment criteria.

The grass roof ensures the lodge is warm in winter and cool in summer. The approach to Wheal Towan is past a very attractive waterfall and access to Towan is via a level pathway onto the main decking area or via wide steps to the side decking area. It has two bedrooms and comfortably sleeps up to four people.

The beds can be configured to suit your particular requirements.  All rooms within the lodge are on the level. The fully equipped kitchen has a full size fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer.

The lounge area leads onto the main decking area which has a full size, four person hot tub. This is all under glass, allowing you to enjoy the tub and dine al-fresco whatever the weather. This decking area faces directly on to woodland which is great for obseving all the incredible wildlife that thrive within our woodland valley.  The garden area has lots of trees and shrubs planted all around to ensure optimum privacy.

Wheal Towan also occupies a lovely corner spot. Also provided is a charcoal BBQ for those warm summer evenings. The side decking area is also covered in glass and has an external heated drench shower which is ideal for washing the sand and salt off at the end of the day.

This decking area, like all our timber lodges has an outside cupboard, ideal for storing all your equipment such as wet suits and surfboards, body boards etc. We provide buckets and spades for your use which can be found in this cupboard along with firelighters and kindling for the log burner for those cosy winter nights.

Like all our lodges Wheal Towan is only about 5 to 10 minutes walk to the centre of the village and Porthtowan’s amazing Blue Flag beach.

Wheal Towan Guest reviews

"I can only give you positive feedback on everything... Friendly staff, amazing lodges, great location, easy reach to beach and shops, plenty of activities in easy reach. Very helpful and friendly staff".

This was our eighth stay at Rosehill Lodges. The lodges are set in the most beautiful surroundings. The planting is gorgeous and the site is maintained to make the best of the wildlife.. On arrival you are greeted by wonderful friendly people, who show you around the lodge. Each time we stay there are new bits and pieces. The lodges are kept impeccably clean, so you can unpack and relax immediately. You feel like no one else has stayed here before you. Each lodge has a hot tub, with an outdoor seating area. They have glass covered roofs, so you get the best of both worlds and means you can enjoy your stay even if you do get a little rain. There are log burners and that was most welcome on an unseasonably chilly day in June, and meant we could really be comfortable. The most relaxing of holidays in a wonderful location. I slept every night, all night long... something that doesn't happen at home! I can't recommend Rosehill enough..perfect!
