With more than 2000 members across the UK, Ireland, Italy, Canada and Zimbabwe they are the world’s largest and most established sustainable tourism certification programme in the world.

Rosehill’s Green Assesment

Every two years an assessor visits us at Rosehill Lodges to assess us against a rigorous set of criteria, covering a range of areas such as energy and water efficiency, waste management, biodiversity as well as social and ethical choices.

Choosing a Green Tourism member, means you are supporting a business that is positively working towards being sustainable; one which is accountable and genuine in its approach.

Green Tourism members are awarded Bronze, Silver or Gold. Rosehill are very proud to yet again achieve GOLD award status.

What does this mean?

Gold Award Status – Inspirational / Outstanding

  • Highest standards of sustainability are being achieved with a strong and broad ethos and excellent examples throughout.
  • Latest technologies are employed from LED lighting through to efficient boilers and renewable technologies.
  • Efficient control of resource use and can demonstrate effective monitoring with targets for savings.
  • Changes in working practices are leading to significant benefits to the business, community and supply chain.

Our assessment in detail:

Rosehill Lodges maintains a very strong GOLD level of award once again. The site has clearly demonstrated numerous examples of ‘best practice’ and has made several improvements to the site and area over the years. Our site has been scored on the more rigorous Green Tourism ‘Version 5’ criteria which has been updated to reflect changes to technology and awareness. The lodges are very low impact indeed – high levels of insulation, modern appliances, a green roof and solar panels help to reduce energy usage. There is now more use of LED lamps and the site has moved towards much greener cleaning products. In addition to the site, the owner and staff have been working within the community, playing an active role in the Porthtowan Beach Association – this is making the beach cleaner and safer and also allowing access to people of differing abilities.

A significant achievement

We are extremely proud to have gained an ‘Excellent’ rating across all measurements and ‘Outstanding’ for Innovation. Our passion and the hard work of everyone who works at Rosehill Lodges is what makes this possible.
