Want something really special? Hire Ben for a fishing trip to remember. Offering the ultimate “catch and cook” experience. Alternatively, Ben will be happy to cook a really special meal, in your lodge, for that extra special occasion. Bens smiley face is in the slide show at the top of this page preparing a fresh pasta dish for guests staying at Rosehill. Rosehill was recently the accommodation venue for an article in the Telegraph featuring Ben’s cooking skills. Also featured on ITV’s Home Sweet Holiday Home with Lisa Faulkner (2010 Celebrity Masterchef winner).
Blue Bar on the beach, overlooking the Atlantic, amazing romantic sunsets. Always consistent and popular. For a family dinner, drink or barista prepared coffee, Blue is a great choice. Serving freshly cooked locally sourced food and perfectly informal.
Porthtowan Beach Cafe
Greeted by genuine Cornish smiley faces, the “Porthtowan Beach Cafe” is the place to go for that great cup of coffee. We all know that you usually get good coffee at Costa or Cafe Nero. However, apart from superb coffee, what you also get at the beach cafe are the seaside views and freshly baked cakes. Porthtowans, dunes, beach and the Atlantic Ocean are literally on its door step. The freshly baked cakes include chocolate brownies and carrot cake which are to die for. Whats more they have been open all winter, even in the face of the Atlantic storms. So if you are walking the Coastal path its worth a stop over.I like to grab a newspaper from the village shop and sneak away for that crafty, guilty, half hour break, pausing just a moment before savouring the crema layer on my espresso. The cafe is spotless and the staff are full of smiley faces. These guys really know how to run a kitchen.
The Cornish Pizza Company
This recent addition to St Agnes’ food scene has created quite a buzz with local people as well as visitors in the know. Owners Jon and Vicki are dedicated to offering authentic Italian pizza with a Cornish twist – using local toppings such as Cornish cheeses and organic dough made daily on the premises. Numerous awards including being voted ‘Best Local Food Takeaway in the South West’ last year by Taste of the West are well deserved.
The Treleigh Arms
Renowned for good food, real ales, fine wine & excellent service. An extensive menu catering for all diets. Guests staying at Rosehill always have positive feedback about the experience at the Treleigh Arms.
Rodda’s clotted cream is seen and sold all over the world. Their creamery is located in the next village just five minutes drive from Rosehill. Go on, spoil yourself. Who can resist a cream tea when on holiday? Rodda’s can purchased from our local village store in Porthtowan. Lastly, don’t forget, the cream goes on top of the jam.
Etherington’s Farm Shop
Etherington’s Farm shop is a healthy walk (or short drive) from Rosehill and has shelves stacked with delicious Cornish products, from jams and chutneys, to ale and gin. The traditional butcher’s counter is laden with local and rare-breed cuts, and their skilled butchers are always on hand to offer advice and prepare meat to your specifications. They also make their own delicious pasties from a special 150-year-old recipe in their on-site bakery, which can be brought cooked or frozen from the Farm Shop.
Tree of Life Organic Vegetable Box
We have been growing and supplying organic fruit and vegetables for 26 years specialising in Blueberries. Over the last few years we have scaled down a lot but still grow enough to supply our horsebox guests and Churchtown Veg Shop St.Agnes. We are still members of the Soil Association because we feel the organisation offers the highest welfare for plants, animals, for us and the planet.
Baker Toms Bread
With his bakery and cafe in Pool, near Redruth, Tom can supply some really interesting recipes like Carrot, Mustard Seed and Thyme or Parmesan and Red Onion.
The Old School Bar and Kitchen
Situated in Mount Hawke, in the next village from Rosehill is “The Old School Bar and Kitchen”. For that informal drink, Sunday lunch or intimate meal, in stylish and vintage surroundings, the OSBK offers a perfect venue.
